The 4 Cities Tournament, showcasing young athletes from Budapest, Bratislava, Ljubljana and Zagreb, will take place from July 4-7, 2024. This year, Budapest has the honor of hosting the event, which features competitions in athletics, table tennis, handball, football, volleyball, and basketball. Established in 1995, this esteemed annual tournament rotates among the participating cities.
Organized by the Budapest Municipality and the Budapest Sports Service Provider Nonprofit Ltd., the tournament builds on extensive collaboration with local sports federations. The event underscores each capital’s dedication to promoting youth sports and fostering an active lifestyle.
Dear Sports Professionals! Dear Athletes!
As the Mayor of Budapest, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to all participants of the “4 Cities Tournament,” a cherished tradition since 1996. This year’s event, taking place from July 4 to 7, returns to its original host city, Budapest. More than just a competition among the youth from Budapest, Ljubljana, Bratislava, and Zagreb, this tournament offers a unique opportunity to explore one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals, experience its cultural treasures, and enjoy various leisure activities. It is my hope that many lasting friendships will be formed during these days of friendly rivalry.
Budapest is a city renowned for its love of sports and hospitality. Our city leaders are dedicated to making youth sports widely accessible and popular. The Budapest Sports Service Provider, which organizes this tournament, is particularly committed to involving as many young people as possible, not only in traditional sports but also in those that are newly emerging and growing in popularity.
In the six sports featured in the “4 Cities Tournament” – athletics, table tennis, handball, basketball, football, and volleyball – we anticipate thrilling competitions and matches. However, what would bring me the greatest joy is for all participants and their companions to leave Budapest with unforgettable memories that extend beyond the sports arena.
